ZTE has today announced the latest addition to its Blade family in the form of the ZTE Blade X. Following on from the ZTE Blade X Max which was announced as available via Cricket Wireless in May of this year, this Blade X model is arriving to market as an exclusive to Cricket Wireless. In addition to confirming its exclusivity through Cricket, ZTE has also confirmed that the new Blade X is now available to buy online and in store and is priced at $119.99.
For that price, it should be expected that this is not going to be a smartphone boasting the absolute best in class specs and is more aimed towards those looking for a capable entry-level Android phone. In terms of those specs, the ZTE Blade X is a device featuring a 5.5-inch display along with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside, the Blade X is loaded with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor (clocking at 1.4 GHz). Cameras come in the form of a 13-megapixel rear camera which is coupled with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The battery powering the Blade X is a 3,000 mAh capacity battery and one which also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology (version 1.0). Other notable features include a fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE support, USB Type-C connectivity, microSD support (up to 2TB), a headphone jack, and Android 7.1.1 (Nougat).
Based on the specs this is a slight step down compared to the Max version which is probably to be expected and especially considering this model is launching at a lower price point than did the Max did. However, for those who are less inclined towards a 6-inch display smartphone (which the Max is), this is likely to be a more suitable and accommodating option. Even more so when considering the spec differences are not vastly different between the two models. As a matter of comparison, the larger Max model not only comes with the larger 6-inch display but also a greater resolution (FHD), a greater capacity battery (3,400 mAh) and more storage (32GB). Otherwise, most of the rest of the specs remain common to both Blade X models. More details, as well as the option to buy through the link.
