Xiaomi has just announced the red variant of the Xiaomi Mi 5X. The Xiaomi Mi 5X was originally announced back in July, while a cheaper variant of the phone landed in August. It’s also worth noting that the company rebranded this phone in collaboration with Google, and released it as the Xiaomi Mi A1 as well, though that model comes with stock Android, of course. The Xiaomi Mi 5X was originally announced in a number of colors variants, including black, gold and rose gold variants.
As already mentioned, the company has just added another color to that list, and reservations are already opened for that color variant in China. The first sale for the red Xiaomi Mi 5X model will kick off on November 1, and its price remains the same, as the only difference between this and the regular Xiaomi Mi 5X model is the color, its design and internals remain the same. This means that the Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at 1,499 Yuan ($226) in China, and as you can see in the provided images, this smartphone combines red and black colors, its sides and back are red, while its front side is pure black. This handset will become available in China on November 1, but the company did not share any info regarding its availability in some other markets, though it’s quite possible that Xiaomi will release it in some other countries, especially those that are placed in Asia.
Now, as far as its build and specs are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is made out of metal, it comes with a set of capacitive keys below its display, while a fingerprint scanner is located on its back side. The phone sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage (expandable via a microSD card up to 128GB). The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor, while it comes with a 3,080mAh non-removable battery. Two 12-megapixel shooters are included on the back side of this phone, while you will find a single 5-megapixel snapper on the phone’s front side. Android Nougat comes out of the box on this phone, while you will find Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 OS installed on top of it.
