The new Nokia 3310 with 3G connectivity is ready to hit the United States, available for pre-order now from Best Buy. The device stirred a lot of interest when it made its debut earlier this year, bringing the iconic Nokia 3310 feature phone back from the grave under HMD Global’s umbrella. The phone was a symbol of durability and reliability and the rebooted version brings it to the modern age, capitalizing on nostalgia to revive the affordable handset. Upon its debut, the new Nokia 3310 featured 2.5G connectivity and it did not work on U.S. networks, but that issue has since been resolved. Following great demand from fans, HMD Global has now announced that it’s launching a 3G version of the handset in collaboration with Best Buy.
The Nokia 3310 3G is now available for pre-order at Best Buy, sporting a $59.99 price tag and an October 29 launch date. The smartphone comes in a number of cheerful color options, including Yellow, Charcoal (dark gray), Warm Red, and Azure (light blue). All colors sport a matte finish, and all feature silver keyboards. Nokia touts that it enhanced the retro user experience of the device for an improved, customized user experience. Best Buy is offering the unlocked GSM version of the Nokia 3310 3G, which means that the handset will work with GSM carries such as AT&T and T-Mobile, but it is not compatible with Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile, or any other CDMA carriers.
The 3G connectivity will drain the phone’s battery a bit faster than the 2.5G one, but HMD says the handset should still last for up to 6.5 hours of talk time, and 27 days of standby time. The Nokia 3310 3G features a modest 2.4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 16GB of internal storage space expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card slot, a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and an FM radio app. The handset also brings back the widely popular Snake game with an updated version that aims to enhance the experience. The Nokia 3310 3G does not have a front camera, and it doesn’t support Wi-Fi. With Best Buy on board, the Nokia 3310 3G will enjoy mass retail availability in the United States.
