Press Release from KTM: The 2017 U.S. offroad racing season officially kicked off on the west coast over the weekend with the opening round of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) in Mesquite, Nevada. FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Taylor Robert got off to a great start as he captured a demanding victory over the competition at Sunday’s season opener.
The Mesquite MX track presented rough conditions for racers, including plenty of sand mixed in with some hard-packed sections. Robert, aboard a KTM 450 XC-F, didn’t get the best jump off the start but the Arizona native was able to charge his way into the lead about halfway through the opening lap.
From there, Robert maintained a steady and consistent pace out front, where he ultimately topped the field by one minute and 20 seconds.
Robert: “I’m really excited to be back at the WORCS races, especially this race with the sandy terrain and super rough conditions. I took some time off after the ISDE so I was really anxious to get out there and race. I just rode my own race and had a lot of fun, it was a great way to start the 2017 and I’m looking forward to the season ahead!”
Next Event: Round 2 – Primm, Nevada – January 28-29, 2017
