Have you ever drifted on the snow using four different off-road trucks? The guys did it in this amazing 6:19 video posted on video-sharing site YouTube. The aim? To crown the real king of off-road driving. The battle was between the Ford F150 Raptor, the Dodge Ram, the Chevy Silverado, and the Mercedes G63 6×6.
Each of the truck was given the chance to prove itself on driving and drifting through icy terrain. The Dodge Ram, in particular, had to climb up a road covered in 10-inch deep snow.
Ford F150 Raptor
The Ford F150 Raptor handled itself well on a rough terrain with a thin layer of snow dust. It has good enough ground clearance to not have a problem with uneven surface, but it looked like it had trouble going down a short hill. As for drifting, it wasn’t as good as the Chevy Silverado, though that may be because it wasn’t given enough time to prove itself on the video.
Dodge Ram
The hardest challenge was for the Dodge Ram 1500, but it had proven itself well to get through at least one foot of snow in an uphill climb. The engine was noisy, yes, but that was expected considering how deep the snow was and how stiff and unbending the climb was. In terms of drifting, the Dodge Ram 2500 did a good job, though it wasn’t as fluid as the Chevy Silverado.
Chevy Silverado
Speaking of which, it looked like the drivers most enjoyed drifting with the Chevy Silverado. Deep in about six inches of snow, the Chevy Silverado was handled quite well. It made strides and was perfect in terms of grip and turns.
Mercedes G63 6×6
The fact that the Mercedes G63 6×6 has a higher ground clearance than the other three in the match-up already made a good case for it. During off-road driving, the Mercedes was definitely better because it didn’t have to adjust too much when it comes to steep and rough terrain. The challenge of steep downhill drop was nothing to the G63.
As for drifting, it did a much better job compared to the other three mostly because of its 6×6 layout. Clearly, the Mercedes was built to handle such terrains and driving exhibition.
