Whilst the team over at GoPro has remained rather quiet on its plans involving the added resources, a spokesperson told Forbes that new developers will be improving GoPro’s own video editing tools.

According to a statement from GoPro, merging Replay and Splice into the company will ‘accelerate GoPro’s ability to deliver ultra-convenient, yet powerful, mobile editing solutions to GoPro customers’.

Founder and CEO of GoPro, Nicholas Woodman, said:

Splice, Replay and GoPro will combine to deliver what we believe will be the fastest and most enjoyable mobile editing experience”.

We believe the accessibility, speed and efficiency of mobile will make it the predominant editing platform of the future.”

The Replay app works by allowing users to combine a variety of clips into a single video, also able to add transition effects, background music and more. Meanwhile, Splice does much of the same, also offering advanced features ‘normally found on desktop editing applications’.

It’ll be interesting to see just how GoPro uses its new and improved team to take the GoPro editing experience a step further.
