Suzuki Factory Racing Press Release: The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, FIM Championship moved east for the first time in 2016 and Team Suzuki riders made a solid showing in front of 61,683 fans inside the Georgia Dome. Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen continued his battle for the title with a sixth-place finish, keeping him ranked second in the standings. Team Suzuki highlights for last weekend’s racing in Atlanta included: - RCH Suzuki’s Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen recovered from early-race issues to finish sixth on his Suzuki RM-Z450. - Suzuki tied for the most riders to make the Atlanta Supercross main with five riders racing the potent Suzuki RM-Z450. - A total of nine Suzuki riders made the evening program in Atlanta, including seven Suzuki RM-Z450 riders and two aboard the Suzuki RM-Z250 for the opening round of the AMA 250 East Region Series. 
Roczen Recovers from Rough Start to Finish Sixth: RCH Suzuki’s Ken Roczen, who has won two of the last three races leading up to Atlanta, was crowded off the gate and found himself mired in the back of the field on the first lap of the Supercross final. Fortunately, Roczen is not afraid of hard work, and RCH Suzuki rider was able to use the nimble handling of his Suzuki RM-Z450 to charge his way through the field all the way back to a solid sixth-place finish by the end of the 20-lap race. The strong comeback helped keep Roczen ranked solidly in second-place in the series standings as the championship now heads to the legendary Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona Supercross. Roczen is relishing the opportunity to race on Daytona’s rough and sandy course, in what is generally considered to be the most demanding stop on the tour. “I’m going back to my track in Florida and we have a special Daytona section set up to practice on,” Roczen explained. “I’ve been feeling really good. This week I’ll put in a bunch of laps, get a lot of rest and just get ready for Daytona. Tonight wasn’t the night we wanted, but we’re going to bounce back. Hopefully I can come away from Daytona with another win to try to make up some points.” 
Five Riders Put Their Suzuki RM-Z450s in the Main at Atlanta: Suzuki tied for the most riders to make the Supercross main event in the Georgia Dome. In addition to Roczen, Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart, RCH Suzuki’s Jake Weimer, Motorcycle Superstore/Suzuki’s Kyle Cunningham and Nicholas Schmidt on his TPJ/Fly Racing/Suzuki all made the Atlanta Supercross final. Stewart finished 14th, earning his first Supercross finish in nearly two years. Even though the result wasn’t quite what he’d hoped for, he was happy, after missing most of the season due to injury, to be back competing again. “I went to the semi and was running third, all good, then I jumped in that dragon’s back and jammed my knee pretty good,” Stewart explained. “Even though in the main event it as kind of survival mode, I refused to pull off. I’m happy we got through the weekend. It’s the first race I’ve finished since April of 2014. I got 20 laps in and we’ll build off that. We’ve got some work to do, but you’ve got to start somewhere.” Kyle Cunningham took advantage of the break from the 250 West Series to race a Motorcycle Superstore/Suzuki RM-Z450 in Atlanta. He made the main and finished 18th. 
Team Suzuki 250 East Riders Kick Off Their Season: The 250 East Region Supercross Series got underway with round one in Atlanta. Jimmy Albertson earned a top-10 finish aboard his Motorcycle Superstore/Suzuki RM-Z250, while MAD Racing/Yoshimura/Suzuki’s Matthew Bisceglia finished 11th to kick off the season. “To come in with so little time on the bike and get 10th, nine places bettered than I qualified, I’m pumped with that,” said Albertson. “I’m excited about the races to come. I’m going to build every weekend and try to eventually get up front.” In addition to the riders who made the main events, Suzuki was well represented in the night show qualifying races with Alexander Nagy and Jeffrey Meurs both qualifying their Suzuki RM-Z450s inside the “Fast 40”. 
In addition, Vicki Golden began her quest to try to become the first female to make a 250 Supercross main riding for Team MicroBilt/PRBC Suzuki. She came up short in qualifying, but will continue her quest throughout the 250 East Region Series this season. The series now heads to the legendary Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona Supercross next Saturday, March 5. The race will be shown on Fox Sports 1 starting at 10:00 pm Eastern.
