Revealed at LA Auto Show: 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Release Date, Price, Changes
The updated 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport recently made its debut at the LA Auto Show. It’s gotten some updated equipment, as well as a new design to more closely resemble the larger Outlander. Although we still don’t have all the details yet, we’re expecting a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport release date in late winter or early spring. Fortunately, we have a lot more information on what’s changed for Mitsubishi’s compact SUV, so we can give you a good idea of what to look forward to.
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Changes
For 2016, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets a new nose and front grille design, based on the Dynamic Shield design concept used on the larger Outlander. It also has new standard 18-inch wheels. Three new paint colors are available, called Diamond White, Cool Silver, and Quartz Brown. Outlander Sport SEL and GT vehicles will also have new heated power-folding side mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators.
Inside, the 2016 Outlander Sport will get a redesigned leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescoping functions, nicer seat fabrics, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a new 6.1-inch display screen for the audio system.
Powertrain options have not changed for 2016. As detailed here, the 2015 Outlander Sport offers a choice between the base 2.0L four-cylinder engine or a more powerful 2.4L option. The 2016 model will offer the same options.
2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Price
Despite these updates and improvements, Mitsubishi announced that the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport price will not increase. The vehicle’s $19,595 starting MSRP will carry over from 2015. That means it’ll continue holding onto its reputation as one of the most affordable SUVs on the market.
