It’s not a bad guess that both of these Hartford street scenes from the collection Joe Sokola sent us were taken at about the same time. Both depict construction on Main Street, both were taken just a couple blocks from each other (above, at the intersection of Main and Gold/Atheneum, looking south; below, at the intersection of Main and Asylum, also looking south), and both appear to date to sometime in the early to mid-1950s. The question, which we can hopefully resolve by identifying the cars here, is when in the 1950s these photos were taken? What do you see here?
