It’d probably be tough to get insurance and state regulators to sign off on putting this 1954 Land Rover Series 1 fire tender for sale on Hemmings.com back into service, which would be a shame, given that it appears ready for just that, equipped with all the ladders, hoses, water tanks, and rescue equipment one might need for small fires and other related operations. Even comes with a trailer, and we’re sure it would have little problem getting to those backcountry fires that many other tenders can’t get to. From the seller’s description:
New Zealand original firetruck, with1944 military dump trailer vin 0878075, clean titles for both. Firetruck is fully functional with governor, forty gallon on board tank, with suction and discharge hoses. Original siren with winkworth bell, proper lighting. Great running machine, engine has original everything from distributer to fuel pump and is used year around and has won numerous awards at parades and car shows. This truck spent it’s working life as a brush truck and plant protection vehicle in New Zealand and the extremely low mileage is indicative, the original tire is a spare, and it has new tires all around. Comes with period working SCBA from Australia, and multiple hoses and fittings. Series 1 firetrucks were built with galvanized frames and heavy duty springs so there is No corrosion and most of the frame is still in the original paint.
