* In our story this week on swamp buggy racing, somebody questioned why thousands of people would sit by the side of a giant mudpit to watch a bunch of good ol’ boys plow their jacked-up rigs through the muck and mire. Maybe this video – featuring Herbert McCurry and shot just a few years after the event we described – will convince them.
* Much like swamp buggies, British sports cars offered a good deal of open-air excitement. Unlike swamp buggies, British sports cars moved a nation and prodded the BBC to film an hour-long documentary on their impact on the country a couple years back.
* Dick DeLuna’s a collector, but he collects what he likes and doesn’t worry about having a collection with any theme or particular value, so his 1948 Nardi-Danese 6C 2500 built for Mille Miglia and Targa Florio racing fits right in to his collection. It also looks good on the California mountain roads, as we see in the latest video from Petrolicious.
* Finally, the 1979 made-for-TV movie Hot Rod , featuring that guy from a bunch of movies and TV shows you saw, plus that other guy – his name’s on the tip of my tongue – from all those other movies and TV shows you saw. And Ed Begley Jr. And a bunch of gassers.
