(China Daily) The Flash, the latest Hollywood superhero film about the titular DC comic character, held a total of 300 advanced screenings across the country on Tuesday and Wednesday, provoking a nostalgic wave among fans as it featured multiple Batman actors.
The 144-minute movie is set to open simultaneously in China and North America on June 16.
The tale, featuring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen (aka The Flash), who obtains his superpowers accidentally after being struck by a lightning bolt, recounts the protagonist's attempt to alter the past and rescue his mother using his super speed. However, he gets caught up in much bigger trouble than expected and encounters Batmen from different parallel universes.
Some famous Hollywood stars who previously played Batman will reprise the iconic role in the movie, including Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, and George Clooney.
At the Beijing premiere on June 11, some die-hard superhero fans arrived dressed up as characters from the movie, from Flash to Batman and Supergirl — a major character in the film. Their presence turned the sneak preview into a party-like atmosphere for fans of the superhero genre.
As of Thursday, the movie, which will be released in a total of six formats including IMAX, has grossed over 9 million yuan ($1.3 million) at the presale box office, topping the presale charts during the forthcoming weekend.
