Samsung Will Reportedly Bring My Galaxy Stories To Android

According to recent reports, Samsung is preparing to rerelease a feature called My Galaxy Stories for Android. The feature was previously only available on the few Samsung Tizen OS handsets released by the company and there’s no timeframe, source, or availability information provided as of this writing. So the news should be taken with a grain of salt. However, there does appear to be quite a bit of information with regard to what will be included with the feature. For the Tizen OS platform, My Galaxy Stories was effectively a novel take on traditional lock screen apps. Like many of those other apps, a user could set parameters for the associated wallpaper and then it would automatically swap that out based on the settings every few times the device was unlocked. Information about the image would be displayed and users had the option to read more on the topic represented by the subject.

That appears to be carrying over to the new My Galaxy Stories when it does show up but with some new features and adjustments. For starters, Samsung will allegedly be adding the ability for users to have their own photos shown in the rotation alongside the content it chooses to show based on the settings. The frequency of those appearing will be controllable via a setting in the app’s menu. The company will also be incorporating real-time breaking news stories and video content to fill the feature out with relevant and noteworthy content. Last but not least, it appears as though the media and any development on the app itself will be supported by advertisements which will also be shown in the lock screen’s content rotation. While the ad-supported nature of the updated application for Android is certain to put at least a few users off, it should allow for a better variety of content that users will genuinely care about.

Having said all of that, there’s been no indication from Samsung with regard to when the app might arrive. Moreover, following Samsung’s previous app trends, it’s unlikely to appear on non-Samsung devices and could only appear for Galaxy-branded handsets or tablets. It will most likely appear on the dedicated Galaxy Apps app store if and when it’s ready for release. In the meantime, the source did share an image which presumably shows a listing for My Galaxy Apps.
