Now, the timing of this release is rather interesting, as Google recently introduced its very own Podcasts app called ‘Google Podcasts’. Pocket Casts is far ahead of Google Podcasts, it has been on the market for a long time, and it’s filled with features, not to mention that its UI is very functional. Pocket Casts app has been downloaded somewhere between 500,000 and 1 million times from the Play Store, and it’s currently holding a 4.6-star rating in the Play Store. The company designed Pocket Casts based on Google’s Material Design guidelines, while you can also choose between light and dark themes within the app. Sync options are available, all you need to do is log in, and you’ll be able to sync your podcasts, ranging from web platforms, all the way to iOS and Android. Custom filters are available within the app, while Wear OS support is also included.
In its Tweet, Pocket Casts said that you will encounter bugs, broken builds and what not if you sign up for the beta test, as you will be testing new builds and new features that are not stable, but that’s the way it goes when it comes to beta tests.
