Bing Visual Search is getting camera interaction features that will enable the phone’s camera to do more for you through the tool. Similar to Google Lens, Bing Visual Search can now tell you more information about a certain place or thing you use the camera to take pictures of, whether it’s a landmark, a restaurant, or famous piece of art. More than just offering up additional information about the things in your photos, you can also now use Bing Visual Search to shop for stuff. You can take pictures of purses, jackets, shoes and more and Bing Visual Search can return links and details on where to buy the items you’re looking for.
Searching for things with photos using Bing Visual Search will also be possible and could very well be the most-used function, depending on how apt people are to buy things online and use Bing for the newly added shopping capability. Microsoft has started rolling out the new Bing Visual Search features to users as of today and has pushed it to Bing Visual search through numerous different tools and apps.
For starters, users can get to the new camera features from the Bing app, as well as through the Microsoft Launcher for those that use it as a home replacement to the stock one that comes installed on their device out of the box. It’s also going to be added to the Microsoft Edge browser for Android devices at some point later today. To access the new features users will simply need to tap on the camera button that’s visible in the app, which can be seen in the image above. Though Google Lens is also baked into some Android devices, now Microsoft is giving users a choice in which tool they use to get the same functionality, and this may push both Microsoft and Google to improve each tool going forward.
