Sennheiser Shows Off Four New Audio Devices – CES 2018

The world-renowned audio experts at Sennheiser will be offering CES 2018 attendees a look at no fewer than four products at this year’s event, including a 3D soundbar, a headset, and two earbud-style accessories. Unfortunately, the soundbar in question is actually still in its prototype form, so the company hasn’t shared any images or information about that. Those attending the technology-focused event will have the chance to see that prototype in action. That soundbar also just so happens to fall into the same category as another product the company will be showing off – namely the company’s AMBEO 3D audio program. First shown at an L.A. exhibit back in October, the AMBEO Smart Headset will also be demonstrated at CES. For those who may not already know, Sennheiser’s AMBEO Smart Headset is an earbud-style set of wired headphones designed to allow both listening to and capturing of 3D, binaural audio.

That should already be fairly exciting for any audiophiles, but that headset was also technically launched back in October. Meanwhile, Sennheiser has two brand new devices it wants to showcase, as well. The first is a set of noise-canceling earbuds under the model CX 6.00BT. The buds are similar to some others already on the market in that they are joined together by a single wire and feature Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, but they also include support for Qualcomm’s apt-X Low Latency. That means that not only should the sound remain crisp and detailed, with plenty of bass. Watching videos or gaming should also not result in sound-syncing that is ever-so-slightly off from the visuals. Following that are Sennheiser’s new HD 820 over-the-ear headphones. These are wired and offer a completely unique closed-back design which is counter to how most audiophile-class headphones work – via an open-back design. That’s made possible, Sennheiser says, thanks to thanks to a glass transducer cover that which helps to minimize resonance, while still blocking out ambient noises that may otherwise interrupt the listening experience.

As to pricing and availability, Sennheiser has not, as of this writing, provided any of those details for its soundbar or its headphones. As mentioned above, the AMBEO Smart Headset was made available earlier this year and currently sells for just shy of $300. With that said, there will likely be more information made available either during or shortly after the CES 2018 event.
