OnePlus Buyback Program In India Expands To All OP5T Models

Chinese phone maker OnePlus expanded its OnePlus 5T Buyback Program in India to all models of its latest Android flagship, the company said Tuesday. While consumers who already own a perfectly functional OnePlus 5T are unlikely to want to take advantage of the offer in order to exchange it for another unit of a different color at a loss, the program provides them with a way of replacing a device that was broken in a scenario not covered by its limited warranty at a discount. The initiative is presently available in 31 Indian cities and covers handsets from 22 brands in total, including OnePlus. The buyback process itself is handled by Cashify and only one used device can be traded in for a discount on a single order with the Shenzhen, Guangdong-based company.

The availability of any accessories that came bundled with the device you’re looking to trade in may not necessarily impact your quote but Cashify still recommends users present their handsets with any chargers, headphones, cables, and other electronics that accompanied their old smartphones. It’s presently unclear how long the offer itself will last, with OnePlus’s previous buyback initiatives being relatively varied in terms of length. Still, consumers can likely count on being able to take advantage of the deal for at least several more months, possibly even until mid-2018 when the firm is expected to stop replenishing its OnePlus 5T stock in preparation for the launch of the OnePlus 6 that has already been confirmed as coming soon.

India remains one of OnePlus’s key markets as it’s a natural fit for the company’s strategy of delivering high-end and aggressively priced devices that offer high value for money. Additionally, the South Asian country is also the world’s second largest smartphone market that still isn’t showing any serious signs of saturation, thus being the last major bastion of growth opportunities for the mobile industry in the entire world. The firm’s promotional efforts in India have been relatively extensive in recent years, spanning everything from TV ads and billboards to online marketing campaigns starring various celebrities. OnePlus is still growing in a steady manner, having recorded $1.4 billion in revenue over the course of 2017, CEO Peter Lau said earlier this month.
