Israeli audio equipment manufacturer Morel announced PowerSlim, its latest lineup of speakers specifically designed for installations in challenging scenarios that allow for little space but still require a premium surround setup. The compact form factor of the PowerSlim-series devices is most evident by their depth which measures in at just 1.55 inches (39.37mm), with the company touting this particular characteristic of its offerings as “unprecedented” in the industry. Despite being extremely thin, the speakers are equipped with a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1.1-inch Acuflex hand-coated tweeter that work in conjunction to deliver an ultra-premium listening experience, Morel claims.
The speakers come with the latest and greatest proprietary technologies developed by the audio company and should allow their owners to make the most of the limited physical space they have available for installing a surround system, especially if they aren’t able to make infrastructural changes to the environments meant to house their setups. A dual-magnet motor made from neodymium is also part of the package, as is a convex membrane and a custom chassis with a proprietary suspension design. The end result of that approach is a set of speakers with extremely fast off-axis and frequency response times which should allow for seamless transitions and high-quality sound in general. The versatile nature of the PowerSlim series is also reflected on its grilles that were specifically designed and coated so as to be (re)paintable, allowing them to blend into any environment. All things considered, the lineup is likely to primarily appeal to professionals working in the tertiary sector of the economy but may also be an attractive proposition for music enthusiasts.
Morel’s PowerSlim series was officially unveiled as part of the latest iteration of the Consumer Electronics Show which is opening its doors to the general public on Tuesday and will run until Friday, January 12th. The audio lineup will be showcased at the Las Vegas, Nevada-based trade show but still doesn’t have a firm availability window attached to it. Likewise, pricing details remain unknown, though more information on the speakers should be disclosed in the coming months as the products are expected to become available for purchase later this year. The price tags associated with the PowerSlim lineup are unlikely to be low, as suggested by the no-compromise design philosophy that Morel followed while creating its latest speaker offerings.
