Appthority has partnered with Google on Enterprise security by way of integrating Managed Google Play with its own mobile threat protection solution. By integrating the two, companies can still comply with Managed Google Play’s security, privacy, and regulatory policies for apps that are distributed through the platform while using the Mobile Threat Protection tools that aim to keep sensitive company data and information as secure as possible.
Appthority boasts a wealth of benefits for companies, not the least of which is the ability to have apps on Google Play whitelisted so that employees are able to install certain applications which have been deemed safe and secure enough for download and installation on company devices. According to Appthority its MTP and Managed Google Play integration will allow IT professionals to “efficiently vet apps” for this purpose, so while whitelisting is something that has already been an available option through other similar solutions, the idea is that with this joint solution between Apprthority and Google the process can happen faster. In addition to efficient whitelisting capabilities the solution also allows companies to proactively stay on top of everything from data leakage to security risks so as to prevent any potential slip ups which might otherwise compromise additional company data.
Those features listed above will apparently work for both Bring Your Own Device deployments with Android Work profiles that have been configured on them, which are essentially devices brought in by the employees and set up with these profiles to make them compliant with standards, as well as devices which have been issued by the company and already set up for use with work purposes. In addition, Appthority highlights the ability of its Mobile Threat Protection solution to help companies keep an eye on specific threats on a more granular scale. For example, Appthority’s MTP will allow admins to scan for specific types of app threats before apps are approved for company employee use. What’s more, is that companies will be able to write their own policies during the setup process and the MTP will automatically scan for any defined threats going forward so admins don’t have to do so every single time a new or existing employee is trying to install a new app.
