Today, abode announced that it is launching new DIY (Do It Yourself) Security Starter kits, with a starting price of $279. abode is already a leader in the DIY Smart home security industry, and now it has a new configuration for its DIY security starter kit. And it is optimized for a lower cost of entry, to allow more users to jump in on the system, and it also provides increased flexibility for customers as they build out their security system.
abode’s new security starter kit will be available on February 1st, and starts at $279. At that price point, you’ll get an abode gateway, a mini door-window sensor, a remote key fob and a PIR motion sensor. The gateway has a built-in 93dB siren, as well as a battery backup. The entire system is compatible with Zigbee, Z-Wave and Adobe RF device. There is also optional cellular backup, for when the power goes out, and of course automation is also available. Now, customers who are looking to bundle additional abode services will see a slightly higher price. For $329, you can get the Starter Kit + Connect plan, which includes 3G cellular backup, along with 14 days of timeline and media storage. Then there is the Starter Kit + Secure plan, which is priced at $379. With this plan, you’ll get 24/7 professional monitoring thanks to abode’s UL listed monitoring center. Additionally, you will also get 3G cellular backup and 90 days of timeline and media storage.
If you find that you need additional devices to keep your home safe, like door-window sensors, keypads, streaming cameras, etc. Those can be added to the starter kit, and they will be 10% off when bundled together. Making it easier, and a bit cheaper to keep sensors on all your doors and windows so you’ll know when they are opened, and be alerted to it. abode’s system works with all of the major platforms, including Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. So if you’re looking for a somewhat cheap, but reliable security system for your home, abode might be the best choice for you, whether you are using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa – or both.
