New OnePlus 5T Close-Up Render Shows The Phone’s Upper Half

The upcoming OnePlus 5T has been subjected to a fairly large number of unofficial renders based on some previously leaked images and other clues, and in more recent news, an even cleaner 3D render said to depict the top half of the device was passed along on Twitter by industry insider Evan Blass. The image hints at a full-screen design with thin bezels all around, a metal unibody with at least one antenna band running across the back panel – or at least the left and right edges – and a single front-facing camera accompanied by a light/proximity sensor and a loudspeaker.

A recent report suggested that the OnePlus 5T might be set for a market release on November 20th or sometime within the last week of the month, but regardless of when this might happen, the next OnePlus device in the series is expected to fall in line with the current premium market trend and adopt a full-screen, bezel-less display with a taller 18:9 aspect ratio. According to previously rumored information, the OnePlus 5T will carry a 6.0-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels which should result in a pixel density of around 402ppi. However, judging by the latest render at hand, it doesn’t look like the panel’s edges have been rounded similarly to other 2.5D glass panels, and instead the display appears to protrude away from the metal chassis’ chamfered edges. Naturally, this could also just be an optical illusion and might not represent the final product. Unfortunately, the lower part of the render is missing and the back panel is left shrouded in mystery as well, but according to previous reports, the device should carry a rear-fitted fingerprint scanner, meaning that the front panel could scrap the physical Home button altogether in favor of a thinner lower bezel.

Other hardware components previously associated with the upcoming OnePlus 5T include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip housing eight Kryo CPU cores and the Adreno 540 graphics chip, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and a dual 20-megapixel main camera configuration with HDR capabilities and autofocus, as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing sensor. The smartphone was recently spotted on the virtual shelves of Chinese third-party reseller OppoMart alongside a tentative pre-order price of $549 for the variant with 6GB of RAM, but no official details regarding its pricing and availability have been disclosed thus far.
