Over the years, we’ve seen quite a few smartphone clones coming out of China, and the newest such device has just popped up, the Hotwav Symbol S3. This name probably does not sound familiar to you, but you’re looking at the iPhone X clone which runs Android. This handset, as you can see in the provided video and images down below, sports the iPhone X-like notch up top, while it also offers a set of on-screen buttons like most modern smartphones that are currently available out there.
Having said that, it’s worth noting that this phone popped up at the Global Sources Electronics Fair 2017, and it managed to turn some heads simply because it’s an iPhone X clone. By the looks of it, this phone’s bezels are not that thick, though the area on the sides of its notch is unused, so it seems like it has more bezel than it lets you believe, and it definitely does not have the screen-to-body ratio of the iPhone X, though that was to be expected, as this is just an affordable clone of Apple’s new flagship. The Hotwav Symbol S3 is made out of metal and glass, while it comes in black, gold and white color variants. There are two versions of this phone available, one is fueled by the MediaTek’s MT6739 64-bit quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz, while the other one comes with MediaTek’s MT6592 64-bit octa-core processor running at 1.8GHz. Both of those variants come with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Both devices also feature a 6-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) IPS display (18:9 aspect ratio), while a 2.5D curved glass is placed on top of that panel.
This handset offers 4G LTE connectivity (with VoLTE), though only in the variant with the MT6739 SoC, the other variant comes with 3G connectivity it seems. 13 and 2-megapixel shooters are placed on the back of this phone, while you will find 5 and 2-megapixel cameras on its front side. This smartphone packs in a 2,900mAh non-removable battery, and the phone also comes with two SIM card slots. A Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of the device, and Android 8.0 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, though its skin resembles iOS 11. The Hotwav Symbol S3 measures 152 x 75.5 x 7.3mm, and it will become available in China at the beginning of next month, while its variants will cost somewhere between €300 and €400.
