2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Regenerative Braking
Available with the all-new, upcoming 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle is a unique feature that helps you keep on rolling, making your charge last longer. The new Outlander PHEV comes with the unique Regenerative Braking feature, which was designed to help owners get the most out of their vehicle’s charge.
Regenerative braking is a feature unique to the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and it is the vehicle’s ability to convert kinetic energy into electricity during deceleration. This charges up your vehicle’s battery using the braking force each time you decelerate in your vehicle.
The level of regenerative braking strength is controlled using a paddle selector and selector level. The vehicle offers six strength levels, which should be utilized depending on driving conditions.
If you’re looking to drive in fast, smooth conditions such as on highways or on uncrowded roads where little braking occurs, you’re better off using the zero-strength setting. However, if you’re driving in the city or high traffic that requires frequent stopping or slowing, you’ll find better results with higher strength settings.
It’s worth noting that when your EV’s battery is close to full, or the battery temperature is low, regenerative braking will be less effective. Regenerative braking also can’t be controlled while you’re using the adaptive cruise control. Trying to use both at the same time will cause a buzzer to sound.
