Boost the metabolism – 4 nutrition myths
-
Small meals that will boost the metabolism
This actually isn’t true; it is a myth. You won’t lose any weight if you eat every 3 hours. The only benefit is that you won’t overeat yourself but the speed of your metabolism will stay the same. You should find a frequency regiment that will be the best for you and to follow it.
-
If you eat late at night, you will gain more weight
This is also a false myth. The human body stores fat during the day and at night the same. It is important how much you eat and not when do you eat. Some studies have shown that if you eat late at night you won’t gain any extra weight. Overeating leads to weight gain and not the timing.
-
There are different types of calories
This is true and it isn’t a myth. The number of calories we eat is very important and different kinds of food are processed in a different way. 3 % of the fat is burned at the time of digestion, 6% of the carbs are burned in the same process, and 20-30 % of the proteins. To boost the process of weight loss we need to eat more proteins because they are burned the fastest.
If you 1000 calories of chicken and the same amount of calories in ice-cream you will gain more weight from the ice-cream. This process is known as Thermal Effect of Food.
-
Low-carb diet will help you to lose more weight
This is another myth. With less calories the resting metabolic rate will be reduced and it will be even more difficult to lose the weight. A diet which includes less than 1200 calories per day won’t help you to lose your weight.
