The phlegm is a liquid produced by the mucous membranes in humans. This sticky discharge can be a little gross, but it has a key role in the immune system of our bodies, such as fighting severe colds and infections. When this discharge is accumulated in our chest and throat, our body tries to eject it through coughing. But too much of this discharge can cause problems.
An increased amount of phlegm in the lungs may cause various problems such as weakness, runny nose, fever, difficulty breathing, and persistent cough. If the body doesn’t eject it, it might block the bronchial tubes and this needs medical attention. Fortunately, there are natural remedies that can prevent this.
Lemon and honey
Both, honey and the lemon, have antibacterial and antifungal properties, so a mixture of these two can reduce the irritation in your respiratory tract. And the vitamin C in the lemon will also boost your immune system.
Ingredients

Mix well the ingredients and drink the mixture three times per day.

Ingredients
- Boiling water (4-5 cups)
- Thyme (1/2 tsp.)
- Dry rosemary (1/2 tsp.)
