Qualcomm’s latest and greatest is the Snapdragon 835, a chip based on a new 10nm design. This makes it 35% smaller and 25% easier on the battery than the previous Snapdragon 820.
Qualcomm is touting new features of the chip, including Daydream support, 3D positional audio, improved zoom and stabilization for the camera, Bluetooth 5.0 certification, a new LTE modem, 2×2 11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi, and three layers of security.
Of course, most people will just notice performance and battery life. More efficiency and a smaller size means better battery life and bigger batteries (or just thinner phones, if we’re unlucky), and these are changes enough to please us. Hopefully they won’t have issues with lag and thermal throttling!
