This concept by Honda R&D of Rome didn’t appear as part of Honda’s main EICMA presentation, but it just might be the coolest bike with a Honda badge at the show.
The CB1100TR is envisioned as the “King of Urban Flat Track Circuits,” but with more of the naked streetbike orientation favoured by European consumers. Honda says it was created “to share the emotion and excitement of USA flat track culture.” The number 58 honors the memory of Honda’s beloved MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli, who died five years ago.
Based on Honda’s CB1100, this TR concept takes the CB from tame to wild with the addition of an inverted Öhlins fork and dual shocks at the rear. That swingarm looks like it may have come from the CB1000 Big One, circa 1994. Big brakes with radial-mount front calipers, racy wheels and a loud-looking Termi four-into-one complete the dirty but highly arousing picture.
It’s swell, but that big K&N filter under the seat might have a tough time passing Euro4…
That rear tire suggests somebody’s been flogging the “concept” pretty hard. Or found a pile of Ten Kate take-offs.
Not much chance of making it to production, but we can dream, can’t we?
