AT&T has announced Stream Saver, a new feature that will allow users to conserve data by lowering HD video to 480p standard resolution when streaming over data rather than Wi-Fi. Stream Saver will begin rolling out in early 2017, and users will receive a notification when it’s available with directions on to how enable and disable the feature.
Stream Saver competes with T-Mobile’s Binge On feature, which functions in a similar fashion. AT&T is working to make the feature even simpler with a quick toggle in the myAT&T app that allows users to turn Stream Saver on or off. This should be easier than T-Mobile’s solution, which involves the user dialing a specific code to enable or disable Binge On.
