Yamaha announced minor updates to its FZ-10, as well as a new SP variant with electronic suspension and Thin Film Transistor (TFT) instrumentation from the YZF-R1M.
The 2017 MT-10 (the European name for the FZ-10) receives the YZF-R1’s quick shift system which momentarily negates drive torque during upshifts to improve acceleration. The engine mapping has also been revised to smoothen throttle characteristics across the rev range.
The MT-10 SP swaps in the R1M’s Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension. The system’s Suspension Control Unit analyzes sensor data to calculate the optimal compression and rebound damping settings. The SCU then sends instructions to stepping motors which make adjustments on the fly.
Yamaha also swapped out the MT-10’s monochrome LCD display for the R1M’s full-color TFT screen.
The MT-10 SP will be offered in an exclusive Silver Blu Carbon color inspired by the R1M.
