The Best Micellar Waters

The Best Micellar Waters | A Girl, Obsessed
Micellar water is definitely the best thing you can use to take your makeup off at night. They're extremely gentle, yet they melt off every ounce of makeup in just a few seconds. I stumbled upon this miracle water a few years ago and have been using it ever since to help clean my face at night. They used to just be a European thing, but more and more brands have been coming out with their own versions so I thought I would share the best ones I've tried.

First is the holy grail of cleansing waters (and the very first one I ever tried) - the Bioderma Créaline Solution Micellaire. I heard this raved about time and again on Youtube in the early days of beauty gurus, so I decided to splurge a bit and get a bottle. At the time, you could only get this on eBay for around $28 for 250 ml, which was quite expensive in my mind. Upon receiving, however, I could see the cause for the high price tag and why everybody was freaking out about the stuff. The very first time I used it to clean my face, it melted off all of my makeup (including waterproof mascara!) in maybe 10 seconds. I've been obsessed with this ever since, and especially love it because it's very gentle with my sensitive skin and doesn't make my eyes sting or burn.

Once I saw other brands start making their own versions of this Bioderma miracle water (as I like to call it), I decided to try a few of them out in the hopes of finding a similar, more affordable option that would be easier to get my hands on. A cheaper, yet still high end option that I've found is the La Roche-Posay Solution Micellaire Physiologique*. The makeup-melting power of this is nearly identical to Bioderma's, and I've also noticed that this leaves my skin feeling a tad bit softer. Another thing I really like about this one is that it has a very light scent to it that is a mix of fresh and floral, but doesn't smell synthetic at all.

If you're really on a tight budget but still want a micellar water, I highly suggest the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. You can pick up a bottle for less than $8 right now at Ulta, and they're 400 ml so you get quite a lot of product. I have noticed that it usually takes a little bit more scrubbing with this, especially if you have a lot of liquid liner and mascara on. It does work at getting matte liquid lipsticks off rather quickly though (which, sadly, is one of Bioderma's few flaws). The cool thing with this micellar water is that it comes in two formulas - regular and waterproof - so you can choose which one will work better for you.

Are you a fan of micellar waters? Which is your favorite?
