Trader Joe’s is my go-to grocery store. I’m obsessed with it. I’ve contemplated how long I could live on an all-Trader Joe’s frozen food diet. It’s affordable, minimally processed food that is delicious.
Trader Joe’s has their own branded products that sort of remind me of a cross between President’s Choice products in Canada and what you would find at a Marks & Spencer’s Food Hall. The product developers deserve a high-five! I’ve loved almost everything I’ve ever purchased from Trader Joe’s, that I thought I would share with you my personal top 10:
1) Speculoos Cookie Butter – If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to spread cookie on toast, you’re in luck. Cookie Butter has a cult following and has spawned a chocolate spin-off. It’s unique to Trader Joe’s and a best-seller. If you buy one thing from TJ’s, it should be this.
2) Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups – Holy crap. The dark chocolate combined with the creamy peanut butter centre could give us a world peace. If you want to be the hero at work, bring a box into the office. It’s also impossible to just eat one, I can only eat them in pairs and then I have to hide the whole box until the next day.
3) Mandarin Orange Chicken – Squash that Panda Express craving with this perfect frozen version of orange chicken. The sauce is tangy without being too overpowering and TJ’s has somehow figured out a way to keep this chicken crispy even when sautéing at home. I live to serve this alongside their bag of frozen fried rice and some steamed broccoli.
4) Dried Baby Sweet Pineapple – Chewy, sweet and slightly tart. The dried baby sweet pineapple replaces my candy craving and is something different to rotate into my usual dried apricots and apples that I have for a snack. Pair with macadamia nuts for a tropical four o’clock snack.
5) Turkey Corn Dogs – I love corn dogs. These turkey ones make me feel less guilty about eating them and are a good protein-based snack or when I want something salty.
6) Olive Oil – Look for the giant black bottle that comes with its own pouring spout. That’s the one I always I buy and it’s gigantic. A great value and tastes really good too. It’s my kitchen staple.
7) Pink Himalayan Salt + Mixed Pepper – What I love about the TJ salt and pepper is that they come in their own little plastic shakers with a built-in grinder. Super handy and the actual spices taste great!
8) Pizza Burgers – When you can’t decide between pizza or a burger, TJ brings you – the pizza burger. The patty itself is vegetarian, but cheesy like a pizza. I’ll even eat it bunless with a salad and makes for a good emergency meal. Look for it in the frozen section.
9) Mini Ice Cream Cones – I’m not capable of keeping a tub of ice cream in my freezer. I’ll eat the whole thing. These mini cones are sort of my easy fix – completely satisfying and properly portioned. I like the vanilla flavour, dipped in chocolate on a sugar cone – yum!
10) Mini Croissants – When I’m having peeps over for brunch and I want to make it seem like I got all fancy, I defrost a bunch of TJ mini croissants and serve with baked eggs. They are buttery, flaky and all kinds of amazing. No one can say no to fresh baked, warm croissant. The mini portion size is also perfect.
