The Makeup Edit #9

We're already at the end of July, which means it's time for another TME roundup! I'm seriously in awe of how quickly this year is going by. We're closer to next Christmas than we are to last Christmas, which is just freaking me out. PSL season is right around the corner, and after the heatwave we just endured, I'm already dreaming of chilly days and cozy sweaters. Before I get carried away though, let's dive into the contents of my makeup bag for July!

Due to the excessive heat, I've had to go with products that are light and mattifying. My everyday base routine has consisted of Maybelline's Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Foundation in Porcelain Ivory applied all over my face with a damp beauty blender, and then followed up with Maybelline's FaceStudio Master Concealer in Fair to cover up any dark circles and blemishes. This has been a dup that I've been pretty happy with. The foundation stays matte in the heat but is still hydrating, and the concealer is one of the most pigmented drugstore options I've ever tried (most days, all I've needed was the concealer).

My everyday eye look has been super boring simple - just a champagne lid paired with a classic cat eye and big lashes. Maybelline's Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded creates a really quick and flawless champagne eye, so it's perfect for when you're in a hurry but still want to look put-together. After applying that on the lids, I've been using Pixi's Cat Eye Ink* to create a super easy flicked out line, and then a full coat of Essence's Forbidden Volume Rebel Mascara on my top and bottom lashes. I've been really surprised with how well this mascara works. I can't believe it costs less than $5!

For the rest of my face, I've just been keeping it neutral with a bit of a glow. I picked up the new Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Seduce at the beginning of the month, and it's what I've been using to give my cheeks a bit of color. It's a soft, pinky-nude shade that is so appropriate for the season. After that, I dab some of ColourPop's Highlighter in Spoon onto the high points of my face for a ridiculously pretty glow. The last step is my lips, and I've been using Lorac's Alter Ego Lip Gloss in Vixen* to create a fun summer lip that isn't too bold but still adds a pop of color.
