Android N Developer Preview 4 with final APIs and SDK now available

Google has been steadily releasing the developer previews for Android N, the next major update to the mobile operating system, for a few months now. Now, as we inexorably move towards Google revealing the name for the next version of Android, the company has released the latest preview for the software.

This is Developer Preview 4, build NPD56N, and with it Google has also added the final APIs and the final SDK for developers. With these, the final touches can be made for the apps that will run on Android N later this year.

The developer preview is available for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, the Pixel C, General Mobile 4G, and the Sony Xperia Z3. If you are enrolled in the beta program and have one of these devices, an over-the-air (OTA) update should be available now. If you aren’t already signed up, go through this link to do so.

Android N is bringing a refreshed notification shade, a split-view mode that will offer the ability to use two apps at once, bundled notifications, and more. Are you running the developer preview for Android N? What do you think of the new software?
