The HTC 10 may be a stunning smartphone with its metal unibody and distinct chamfered posterior, but there’s more to a smartphone than just the hardware. HTC has a bunch of its proprietary apps available from the Play Store offering unique features, perhaps none more so than the HTC Connect app, that has just been updated with native support for Apple’s AirPlay streaming technology.
The HTC Connect app adds AirPlay functionality to not just the HTC 10, but some of the Taiwanese company’s older flagships such as the HTC One M7, M8, and M9.
I know that we are all Android fans here, but some of us live in multi-OS households, so being able to push audio or video content from your (HTC) smartphone to say the Apple TV or other AirPlay-enabled devices isn’t a bad thing.
The HTC Connect app is available from the Google Play Store, and besides now supporting Apple’s AirPlay protocol, it is also compatible with AllPlay, Blackfire, Bluetooth, DLNA and even Miracast. So you should now be able to push audio or video content to almost any streaming protocol you can think of.
