Samsung is pushing out a pretty large update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and it seems to include a neat feature called Display Scaling.
What is Display Scaling? It basically lets you choose a more condensed DPI setting so that more content can fit on the screen. This feature is supposedly built into Android N, but it seems like Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners will get to take it for a spin a bit early.
The update includes a lot of other additions that we outlined just the other day, but as a quick overview, you’ll get the latest Android security patch, some performance improves, and touch enhancements like increasing palm rejection so that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are easier to use with a single hand.
Once you have the update downloaded, you’ll be able to find Display Scaling options under Settings > Display. Here you’ll be able to switch it from Standard to Condensed and the other way around, of course.
This update is currently slowly rolling out and could take a couple of weeks to get to everyone; however, carrier-based variants might be short out of luck for the time being. There’s no telling when they’ll have the update ready or even if they’ll push it to the handset in a timely manner.
We’ll have to wait and see!
