How soon will Kia be making a full-size SUV?
Kia has finally revealed their full-size SUV concept. Called the Kia Telluride, the company bills the car as a look into future. But how long into the future will we have to wait? How soon will Kia be making a full-size SUV? The answers are in the details.
The Kia Telluride is powered by a 270 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine that is supplemented by a 130 horsepower electric motor. The electric motor will help the Telluride earn over 30 highway miles per gallon. The Kia Telluride utilizes an advanced all-wheel drive system that can send power to all four wheels.

Kia envisions the Telluride as a luxury SUV. The three-row Telluride will allow up to seven people to ride in style. The Telluride introduces Kia’s new Swipe Command technology. A touch-sensitive band is mounted to the second row center console that allows rear-seat passengers to scroll through different media options. The media is supported by a seven-speaker premium Harman Kardon audio system. Harman Kardon wireless headphones are stored in the console. In the front seat area, the Telluride features wireless cell phone charging.
The interior of the Telluride showcases Kia’s first use of 3D-printed components. These components have been used when designing the dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels. Kia packs the Telluride with a ton of great new technology features. This includes a new fingerprint activated push button start.

When can I get a Telluride?
Kia stated that the Telluride is “purely conceptual,” and that “there are currently no plans to bring the Telluride into production.” However, Kia also gives some reassurance, reminding consumers that the company “has a history of delivering production vehicles that bear strong resemblance to preceding concepts” and stated that “Kia’s large SUV is anything but a utopian fantasy.”
Reading between the lines, it is clear that Kia is targeting the three-row full size SUV market. While it may be a little while before a three-row Kia hits the market, Kia is definitely taking the idea seriously. It will also be interesting to see if any of the new technology introduced on the Telluride will be carried over into other Kia vehicles.
