Maserati Australia has announced a recall on its GranTurismo and GranCabrio sports cars, to replace faulty door latches.
The company’s local distributor, Ateco Automotive, reports that the door latch mechanisms may have had insufficient heat treatment during manufacturing.
The production fault could result in the doors opening during an accident when they otherwise would remain securely closed, increasing the risk of injury to the occupants.
The recall affects 292 GranTurismo and GranCabrio models across the 2016 model year. Ateco has confirmed it will write to owners to arrange repair.
This latest recall follows one announced two weeks ago for the new-generation Quattroporte GTS, to address an alternator wiring detail.
