2016 Kia Cerato facelift unveiled, goes on sale in Korea

The Kia Cerato has just received a facelift in its home market in Korea. Known as the K3, the current generation of Kia’s C-segment car has been in the market since 2013.

As expected, the facelifted Cerato gets some nip and tuck on the aesthetic department. At the front, a new and longer headlights and updated ‘tiger-nose’ grille design are among the new updates sported. Lower down, we can see subtle changes on the front air intakes and fog lights.2016-kia-cerato3

At the back, changes are even subtler where the tail lights now feature an in-built, thinner LED strip. The changes on the inside are minimal at best, with the steering wheel, instrument cluster display graphics and console received little changes that nitpicky buyers won’t probably realise.

Powertrain options remain the same, though. The 1.6-litre Gamma GDI four-cylinder engine offered for the domestic market makes the same amount of power as before, but has been tweaked to provide better fuel efficiency.2016-kia-cerato4

The Kia Cerato saloon was launched in Malaysia in mid-2013 with two engine options offered: 1.6 and 2.0. While the 2.0 Nu MPI is new, it retains the 1.6 Gamma II MPI engine from the predecessor, the Kia Forte. Expect NazaKia to launch the facelift – fingers crossed with an updated 1.6 direct-injection engine sometime next year.
