In Europe, the Kawasaki model we know as the ZX-14 is called the ZZR1400, and there are two versions: the standard and the high-spec Performance Sport model. At EICMA 2015, Kawasaki announced small, but significant changes to the line, though it is still unclear if or when these changes will be implemented on U.S. ZX-14s.
Both ZZR models get a new instrument cluster with Liquid Crystal Display that’s interchangeable for black or white backgrounds for easy reading in either day or night.
From here, the Performance Sport model receive further upgrades, including Brembo M50 monobloc calipers, Brembo radial-pump master cylinder, and stainless steel brake lines.
For slightly more comfortable longer-distance riding, the model also features a smoked flip-up windscreen. The rear shock gets an upgrade to the Ohlins TTX39, with settings developed specifically for the ZZR1400. Lastly, thanks to Kawasaki’s relationship with Akrapovic in World Superbike, the ZZR1400s will now be fitted with Akrapovic pipes.
Pricing and availability haven’t been announced yet, nor if these improvements will make their way to U.S. ZX-14 models.
