2015 EICMA: Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 Concept

At last year’s 2014 EICMA, Husqvarna displayed two concept models, the Vitpilen and Svartpilen. At that time both were referred to as 401s, leaving us to speculate that the models will be powered by KTM’s 390 Single found in the RC390 and 390 Duke. Joining the 401 models this year are a Vitpilen 125 and a Vitpilen 701 Concept. Outside of these minimalist announcements Husky is very hushed about its concept models other than to confirm that the company is committed to fulfilling its promise for an expanded street model range.

VITPILEN_701Here’s what we know. The Vitpilen 401 is set to hit European showrooms soon. Joining it will be the simultaneous launch of the Vitpilen 125. The smaller bike shares the 401’s minimalist aesthetics and will be powered by a single-cylinder engine configuration.

The Vitpilen 701 will most likely be powered by a version of the liquid-cooled 690cc Single found in the 701 Supermoto. The concept takes the next step in rounding out Husqvarna’s vision of street motorcycling. “Inspired by the same unique design approach that runs through the VITPILEN family the Husqvarna VITPILEN 701 is an all-new and all modern large displacement single-cylinder motorcycle. It is a bike created to provide a raw, exhilarating and authentic riding experience.”
