Holden has announced a recall of models in its VF Commodore and WN Caprice lines, over concerns that a faulty seat position sensor could affect airbag effectiveness.
Affecting models built between April 8, 2014 and September 17 2014, the recall centres on a seat position sensor that may have become inoperative during any repairs or works requiring the driver’s seat base to be replaced.
If the sensor is rendered inoperative, a forward position for the driver’s seat may go undetected, causing the airbag to deploy with “marginally” more force than intended in the event of an accident.
The recall affects 276 models across the WN Caprice sedan and VF Commodore sedan, ute and wagon ranges.
The affected VIN range is 6G3NT5E20EL902287 to 6G1FB5E35EL008990.
Holden has confirmed it will write to all affected customers to notify them of required action.
