If the mad new Cayman GT4 is a little too out of reach, and a little more than you need out of a car, the new 2016 Porsche Cayman Black Edition might be more your style.
Joining the existing black-edition Boxster and 911 models, the new Cayman Black Edition follows the 2011 launch of the previous-generation example.
Bringing a $3200 premium over the the $106,200 (plus on-road costs) entry-level Cayman that it’s based on, the new Black packs on a set of fashion-focused dark-finish extras.
These include partial-leather black interior, SportDesign steering wheel, Porsche shields embossed on the head restraints, and ‘Black Edition’ logos on the door sills, matched to 20-inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels.
Beyond those extras, additional features for the Cayman Black include bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) integrated, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming mirrors and aluminium trim to the side windows.
Power is again provided by the 202kW 2.7-litre flat-six engine that drives the base Cayman coupe.
The Cayman Black is available now, priced from $109,400 plus on-road costs.
2016 Porsche Cayman range pricing (plus on-road costs):
Cayman – $106,200
Cayman Black Edition – $109,400
Cayman S – $139,000
Cayman GTS – $160,500
