Arai Helmet, Ltd., makers of world-class, handmade helmets for more than six decades, recently hosted a select group of racers, motojournalists and industry ambassadors at Thunderhill Raceway Park to introduce their all-new Corsair-X flagship model. Those in attendance were treated to full product introduction, plus a chance to test the Corsair-X on Thunderhill’s flowing three-mile road course. To capture the event, Arai produced a behind-the-scenes video that showcases the new model’s features and benefits, plus includes interviews with many of the elite racers on hand, including Nicky Hayden, Jake Zemke, Josh Hayes and Chris Ulrich. While the Corsair-X’s improved ventilation capabilities immediately proved valuable to those who rode in the launch event’s sweltering heat (temperatures hit 105 degrees trackside), the key new feature of the Corsair-X is the all-new Variable Axis System (VAS) shield mechanism, which utilizes a variable axis to lower the shield’s pivot point.

 Corsair-X Introduction:

This results in a smaller pivot cover and creates an even more round and smooth shell along the Snell test line in the critical temple area, further increasing the Corsair-X’s ability to glance off objects during impacts. The new VAS shield system also allows for much easier shield removal and replacement. Other updates to the Corsair-X include a more comfortable inner liner which utilizes the anti-microbial Eco-Pure material, an improved emergency release tab, a new replaceable chin vent and additional room in the mouth area for a more open feeling when worn. At launch, the Corsair-X will be available in a variety of solid colors, including Black, Black Frost, White and Aluminum Silver. Also available will be the latest in racer replicas, including the Hayden, Pedrosa and Vinales, as well as a special 30th Anniversary Freddie Spencer replica.
