RC213V to Power New Honda Project 2&4 Concept Car

Honda is producing a new concept called Project 2&4, a collaboration between the company’s motorcycle and automobile design teams. Based on the sole teaser image above, the Honda Project 2&4 appears to be an open cockpit car that will be powered by the RC213V MotoGP racebike.

Project 2&4 is the result of an internal design competition between Honda’s global design studios. The goal was to produce a concept that represents the company’s “drive to inspire”. The winning design was the product of Honda’s motorcycle design center in Asaka and its automotive design center in Wako, Japan.

Honda describes the concept as having a “cabin-less structure”, which suggests an open compact car like the Ariel Atom or KTM X-Bow. Honda also says Project 2&4 offers the “freedom of a motorcycle and the maneuverability of a car.”

Honda also says, however, that Project 2&4 is “powered by RC213V, modified for public road use,” which may suggest the engine isn’t the full-spec (including pneumatically-actuated valves) 999cc V-4 of the MotoGP prototype but rather the much tamer engine used in the street-legal RC213V-S.

Project 2&4 will make its public debut Sept. 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Our sister site AutoGuide.com will be there and will provide us with more detail and photography at the unveiling.
