The fourth generation Lotus Esprit, like this 1991 Esprit SE for sale on Hemmings.com, may be the Rodney Dangerfield of eighties supercars. Despite its performance potential (0-60 in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 160 MPH), critics panned it for having a turbocharged four cylinder instead of a V-8 (an issue address by Lotus in 1996). Today, Esprits have an often undeserved reputation for reliability issues, but owners who religiously maintain their cars will gladly tell you this is undeserved. This three-owner example has just received a major service at the current owner’s expense, and if regularly attended to, should provide its next steward with years of faithful (and stylish) service. 1991 Lotus Esprit Se Turbo, I am the third owner of the car. I have done the schedule c service. New belts, hoses, tune up, valves adjusted,new tires, shocks,alternator,battery. It has all new gaskets. It also has a new exhaust manifold with quick silver exhaust. All fluids have been flushed and the charge cooler has been rebuilt. I have spent over 13,000.00 dollars making this car right. I does need a new clock and power antenna. I have over 30,000.00 dollars in this car but i have priced it for a quick sale. I have my eye on a new project. I have won many local car shows but the trophies stay with me. The car has an accident free history . The interior is near perfect except for the cracks in the wood around the gauges. The exterior is very very good with only a few chips. This car spent most of it’s life in Louisiana and Texas. All of the work I have listed has been done in the last year. I have the Lotus service manual and a copy of a window sticker.
