MotoAmerica: Triumph Race Preview Round #1 – COTA

Bobby Fong Shot Triumph Motorcycles Press Release: Triumph’s 2015 MotoAmerica professional road racing campaign begins this weekend in Austin, Texas at Circuit of the Americas, in conjunction with MotoGP, April 10–12. The spectacular 20-turn, 3.4-mile Grand Prix track is sure to provide an exciting weekend for racers and spectators alike. Bobby Fong will be piloting the #50 Latus Motors Racing / Castrol / Triumph Daytona 675R in the Supersport class. Fong is no stranger to his team or the 675R’s triple cylinder engine as it will be his second season with Latus Motors Racing and third year competing on the Triumph. "I am really excited to be back with Latus Motors Racing Castrol Triumph again this year! I feel very confident heading into the weekend with my team. I have been working very hard in the off-season, both at the gym and developing the 675R,” said Bobby Fong. “We had great test results this winter and we're excited to get the season underway in Austin. I'd also like to thank my sponsors: Castrol, Triumph Motorcycles, Latus Motors, Cortech, Shoei, Helimot, K-Tech Suspension, Dynojet Research, Cafe Racer XXX and Grifter Company." Fong had great preseason form during the Dunlop Tire test at the Circuit Of The Americas in March, finishing with the third fastest time in his class. He and the Latus Motors Racing team have worked hard to build a championship contender this season launching off the results of last season, highlighted by a win in the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout at Auto Club Speedway in April. "The excitement surrounding the start of the MotoAmerica 2015 season is tempered by the loss of Dane Westby, a member of our racing family. Dane’s spirit will live on with all of us. Godspeed Dane," said George Latus, team owner. "The Latus Motors Racing Castrol Triumph team worked hard during the off season in order to get the Triumph Daytona 675R compliant with the new MotoAmerica rules package. Meanwhile, #50 Bobby Fong continued his rigorous program of physical conditioning and we’re ready. Circuit of the Americas is a new venue for us and to say we’re impressed with this facility is an understatement. Let’s go racing!” The 12-lap MotoAmerica Supersport race will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 4:15 p.m. CDT and televised on CBS Sports Network on April 19.
