Microsoft adds handwriting features and OCR to OneNote for iPad

Microsoft has updated its cross-platform note-taking tool, OneNote, on iPad, adding two new features that make it easier to capture ideas naturally.

The latest version adds handwriting support so you can write and draw directly into notes. There’s a range of tools, including a pen, marker and highlighter, and pages expand automatically to allow for uninterrupted note-taking.

The app also includes Palm Rejection and asks you to indicate how you use a pen to improve accuracy.

he update also adds optical character recognition (OCR), so you can search for text in scanned images and photos.

Once you’ve added images to your notebooks, OneNote will need to sync them with the server to complete the OCR process. OneNote for Mac was also updated yesterday to add the feature.
