Lexus Australia passes on free trade agreement price cuts

Lexus Australia has followed the lead of sister brand Toyota and most other Japanese car makers by reducing vehicle prices on the back of the implementation of Australia’s free trade agreement (FTA) with Japan.

The price cuts apply to the CT, IS, ES, GS, LS, RX and LX model lines, which all benefit from the removal of the five per cent import duty. Lexus says the reductions were already applied to the RC coupe and NX SUV before they were launched.

The reductions lower the entry price to the Lexus range to $37,990 before on-road costs, slicing $2000 off the base spec CT200h Luxury hatchback, and cut more than $8600 from the price of the LS600h F Sport limousine.

Lexus Australia CEO Sean Hanley said the price cuts created an opportunity for the brand to attract new customers.

“In recent times we have introduced dynamic new models that offer progressive design and performance in NX and RC,” Hanley said.

“Now we can offer our existing model lines with even more competitive pricing to allow more customers to experience the vast benefits of Lexus ownership … built on enhanced features, leading technology, design, unmatched reliability and a rewarding driving experience.”

CarAdvice has contacted Lexus Australia for the full pricing details. We’ll update this story when they become available.
