While all the photos of this 1972 Chevrolet Corvette for sale on Hemmings.com – equipped with an LS5 big-block, a four-speed manual, t-tops, and dealer-installed side pipes – appear to show a fully restored car, the seller instead tells us that it’s entirely original and that the 21,300 miles it shows are backed up with full documentation. Even the original parts that have been replaced in the course of normal servicing remain with the car in boxes. From the seller’s description:
An incredible 21,300 miles only, fully documented. Totally original – block, paint, interior, chrome. LS5 code CSR – last of the big block 454ci and 4 speed (BB 270HP – nett rating). Last of front and rear chrome bumpers and removable t-tops and removable rear window. All matching numbers. Only year of this very classy color – Pewter Silver. Original AM/FM radio. Even the original vinyl t-tops bag covers.
All documentation back to original purchase including Protect-O-Plate, original factory Order Copy and Owners Manual. Other documents include original warranty cards, assembly manual, wiring diagram sheet and second set of keys and literature from the period.
In 1972, there were only nineteen of this combination produced by the factory. Now, over forty years later, you are most likely looking at the most rare and original corvette of this year and combination in existence. The luggage rack and side exhaust were also very rare dealership installed options (no cut outs in the rear valance).
