Volkswagen, Europe’s biggest car manufacturer, has just named Robbie Williams (real name Robert Peter Williams) as their new marketing manager. The 40-year-old singer-songwriter is branded as VW’s key protagonist in a multi-channel advertising campaign for the new “Club & Lounge” special models.
The special models comprise of the Up!, Beetle and Golf family as well as the Tiguan, and makes for a total of nine models to choose from. Speaking at the press conference, Williams said, “The job is a big change for me. It’s stepping out of the world of pop into a proper job.”
Volkswagen is also cooperating with Spotify, and its customers will have exclusive access to the “Say it with a Playlist” function which creates an individualised playlist based on personal messages sent via Facebook or e-mail.
